CEA Tech institutes List and Leti work together to drive advances in hardware-software integration (executing complex applications on miniaturized objects). List also addresses multi-core processor architecture design and programming, as well as embedded systems reliability, operating safety, and security issues.
The institutes’ researchers have access to an advanced virtual CAD environment for prototyping that enables them to rapidly investigate and assess complex innovative solutions (algorithms, processors, architectures, and embedded software) before building and testing them. This virtual environment can be used to ensure that developments meet the necessary specifications (form factor, energy consumption, safety, etc.) before physically building them.

Leti, a CEA Tech institute, developed and patented an innovative shield to protect the backsides of secure chips from physical attacks. The system was demonstrated to be effective, paving the way toward its future integration into the most critical types of integrated circuits.
