Energy micro-sources

Published on 2 March 2017

OUR KNOW-HOW

The widespread adoption of mobile devices is making miniature energy sources and energy harvesting, storage, and conversion systems a necessity. CEA Tech develops micro-batteries compatible with circuits printed using thin-layer vacuum deposition processes or printed onto flexible materials. Liten, a CEA Tech institute, is also working to develop micro fuel cells (μ fuel cells of around 10 watts) and hydrogen production and storage systems. Factors like required power, cost, and lifespan determine the best solution for the target application.

CEA Tech is also investigating energy harvesting systems—thermoelectric, printed PV, and piezoelectric—that could be used in conjunction with micro-batteries.
