Speeding innovation for industry
Manufacturing and retail
Materials are everywhere, making them a substantial source of leverage to overcome challenges like protecting the environment and making sustainable use of raw materials, improving product performance, and introducing innovative product features.
CEA Tech is helping to minimize the use of certain resources by developing alternative materials, new additive manufacturing processes to reduce waste, and new recycling methods. CEA Tech researchers are also developing new, more energy-efficient raw-materials transformation processes to reduce environmental impacts. Other CEA Tech programs are focusing on ways to implement new materials and to create others (through novel assembly techniques and formulations) with specific properties (insulation, energy harvesting, lighter weight, better resistance).
Researchers at Leti, a CEA Tech institute, recently developed an electron holography technique capable of imaging material structures with a spatial resolution of just one atom.
Leti, a CEA Tech institute, recently outfitted the particle detectors for CERN’s renowned NA62 experiment with silicon cooling circuits. This remarkable achievement will pave the way for future cooperation with CERN on other higher-profile experiments.
In research conducted in partnership with Naval Group, Liten, a CEA Tech institute, successfully implemented a laser powder-bed fusion additive manufacturing process on a 316LN stainless steel alloy. This is the first time additive manufacturing has been used to produce 316LN parts.
Researchers at Liten, a CEA Tech institute, set out to determine whether or not micro cogeneration affects fuel-cell aging. The first long-duration tests conducted under the Propice project provided some answers.
The Nanocharacterization platform’s two Titan transmission electron microscopes recently received some major upgrades. They now provide more than just images, delivering detailed information on the chemistry of the materials being analyzed.
How to collaborate with CEA Tech teams ?
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
