Materials and processes

Published on 15 April 2016

Today’s materials must meet increasingly stringent specifications. Manufacturers are seeking materials offering a better performance, longer lifespans, and lower total cost of ownership. In some cases, researchers have no choice but to come up with totally new materials and processes capable of giving existing materials new properties and functions.

Powder metallurgy, multi-material assembly, and nanomaterials are just some of the solutions that CEA Tech institute Liten is investigating. This research will help manufacturers find alternatives to increasingly rare materials and respond to new regulations prohibiting use of certain rare or toxic materials.
