Digital transformation brings with it an increased risk of cyberthreats. CEA Tech’s institutes are developing innovative technologies to ensure data integrity and security, from data collection through to delivery of services to end users.
CESTI, a lab at CEA Tech institute Leti, is one of France’s two official IT security evaluation centers, and can provide the know-how needed to verify and certify security components. CEA Tech institute List leverages its Frama-C platform to verify the security of a system’s various software layers. Other technologies developed by CEA Tech include physical protection of integrated circuits and homomorphic encryption to reduce the risk of security breaches and malevolent activities.
A new maskless multi-beam electron lithography machine* can individually mark unique codes onto thousands of chips on the same wafer. The massively-parallel technique provides chip-marking throughputs compatible with industrial manufacturing.
Connecting Food and List, a CEA Tech institute, have joined forces to improve quality control in the food manufacturing industry. Their solution, which leverages blockchain technology, can certify the monitoring of products from the production line to the consumer’s refrigerator.
List, a CEA Tech Institute, implemented homomorphic encryption technologies that enable “blind”—in other words, totally confidential—computation on data stored on remote servers. Several industrial applications have been developed using the technique.
Aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation used Frama-C, a software suite developed by CEA Tech institute List, to develop a method to detect software security vulnerabilities in real time. The method was implemented on critical security components used in an experimental ground support application for the company’s Falcon jets.
List recently reached a new milestone in cybersecurity, proving that its Frama-C formal verification software can be used to make sure that encryption software code is secure. The advance was part of research conducted under FormalLab, a joint List-Thales R&D initiative.

How to collaborate with CEA Tech teams ?
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
