APPOINTMENTS

Stéphane Siebert appointed Director of Technological Research of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), effective January 1, 2016


​Mr. Siebert succeeds Jean Therme who had held the position since 2003. Mr. Therme will serve as Special Advisor to the Director of Technological Research going forward.

Stéphane Siebert, born in 1959, earned a degree from the Ecole Centrale de Paris in 1981. He conducted his Ph.D. research, on a chemical process for enriching uranium, at the CEA. In 1984 he took a research position with the Battery Department at the CEA's Grenoble campus.

From 1989 to 1995 Mr. Siebert was instrumental in a CEA spinoff specializing in real-time simulation for nuclear and thermal power plants and rail networks and systems. In 1995 he was appointed Director of Public Works and, later, Director of Operations, both for the City of Grenoble, France.

Mr. Siebert came back to the CEA's Grenoble campus in 2007, this time as Director of Major Projects for CEA Tech (which was called the Technological Research Division at the time). In 2015 he was appointed Deputy Director of Technological Research. His tenure as Director of Technological Research began on January 1, 2016.

He succeeds Jean Therme, who held the position from 2003 to 2015. Mr. Therme will serve as Special Advisor to the Director of Technological Research. He will continue to serve as Deputy Director for Renewable Energies reporting to the CEA Chairman.
